Services
Comprehensive care for adults
Clear, organized services designed around unhurried visits and evidence-based medicine— internal medicine and primary care in the heart of Dallas, with coordination across specialists, labs, and prevention.
How it works
Your visit, step by step
Whether it is your first appointment or a follow-up for a chronic condition, here is what we want you to expect from the experience—not only from the medicine.
Step 1
Before you arrive
Bring your ID, insurance card, and a list of medications. New patients: arrive 15 minutes early to finish intake. Jot down questions so nothing gets forgotten in the moment.
Step 2
During your visit
Expect a real conversation—not a rushed checklist. Dr. Gates reviews your history, concerns, and goals, then explains options in plain language so you can decide together.
Step 3
After you leave
You should understand your plan: follow-up timing, prescriptions, referrals, and how to reach us. We coordinate labs and specialists so your care stays connected.

Same-day needs & acute visits
When you are sick with a new fever, infection, or worrisome symptom, we want you to call. We will advise whether an office visit, urgent care, or the emergency room is appropriate. Dr. Gates sees many acute issues in clinic when timing and severity allow.
For life-threatening emergencies—chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe shortness of breath, or heavy bleeding—call 911 or go to the nearest ER first; follow up with us afterward so we can integrate that care into your record.
Mental wellness support
We recognize that mental health is health. Dr. Gates provides a safe, compassionate space to discuss anxiety, depression, and stress-related concerns. While we follow strict clinical protocols regarding specific medications, our goal is always to find the most effective and sustainable path to your emotional well-being.
When therapy or psychiatry is a better fit, we help you understand the options and coordinate referrals. You should never feel dismissed for bringing up how you feel.
The patient experience
At our clinic, we believe that laughter can be part of healing. Our staff is professional, friendly, and known for good humor. We want you to feel like family from the moment you walk through the door.
When you are in the exam room with Dr. Gates, you have his undivided attention. He will make sure your questions are answered before you leave.
Note on scheduling: Because Dr. Gates dedicates real time to each patient, we ask for your patience. We refuse to cut conversations short to meet a corporate quota—your health is worth the time.
Patient policies & resources
New patients
We welcome new members to our practice family. Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to complete paperwork. Bring identification, your insurance card, and an up-to-date medication list—including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
Prescriptions & refills
Controlled medications such as alprazolam (Xanax) for new patients require a comprehensive evaluation and may not be prescribed at a first visit. Please allow 48–72 hours for refill requests to be processed so we can review your chart safely.
Insurance & payments
We accept a wide variety of insurance plans. Call +1 214-941-7467 to verify whether we are in-network with your plan and to ask about any fees you may be responsible for before your visit.
